Madagascar vs Tunisia
Competition: Africa Cup of Nations
Date: 11 July 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Madagascar were considered underdogs against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the round of 16, but I trusted them to qualify (2.25), and they did. They took the lead twice in regular time, got equalized as many (the second in added time), nothing changed in extra time, and in the penalty shootout they did a better job. Nicolas Dupuis’ team keep making history… First appearance in AFCON finals, first goal and point against Guinea on their group debut, first win over Burundi, huge victory over Nigeria(!), qualification for the last 16, and then… a new page in their history book, qualification for the last 8. In a way, they are… lucky(!) to be facing Tunisia in this round, a team blessed with talent, but one that has failed to make a real impression in this tournament.
Just like Madagascar, Tunisia got equalized in added time in their round of 16 match, against Ghana, and had to go through penalties to qualify. It’s impressive that they are in the last 8 without having won a single game thus far. Three draws in the group stage, draw with Ghana as well, before the penalty shootout… roulette. Alain Giresse started saying even before their debut in this tournament that Tunisia are among the favorites to go all the way, lift the trophy. Truth is, they haven’t… dazzled anyone with their football, but they are still in Egypt, unlike Morocco for example, even Egypt themselves, who excelled in the group stage, only to fall victims to massive surprises in the round of 16.

Madagascar vs Tunisia: Prediction
My guess is most neutrals are with Madagascar, loving their exciting story. Truth is, I think it would be awesome to seem them in the semifinals, but deep down I expect Tunisia’s… cynicism to prove effective and earn them that semis tickets, not without extra time though, even penalties.
Madagascar vs Tunisia: Betting Tips
Madagascar’s double chance is at 2.02. I trust them to push the game to extra time, but as previously mentioned, deep down I expect Tunisia to qualify.
