Mainz vs Fortuna Dusseldorf
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 20 April 2019
Kick-off: 15:30 CET
Mainz did lose last weekend in Dortmund, but if I were a supporter of theirs, I would be left mostly satisfied, because of how the second half went. Mainz were 2-0 down about 25 minutes into the game, but before halftime they had already shown they were not going to give up, and someone could easily claim that they ruled on the pitch in the second half, making title-contenders Borussia look… scared. Mainz got, finally, a goal back in the 84th minute, but they had missed great chances before that, and probably the biggest missed opportunity came later, in added time, when… we needed a couple of replays to figure out how the ball did NOT go in. On 33 points, they sit 12th in the table, and this weekend they could mathematically secure their stay in the Bundesliga. Either way, crazy things have to happen for them to finish lower than 15th. Müller, Donati, Bungert, Niakhate, Martin, Gbamin, Kunde, Latza, Boetius, Quaison and Mateta, these should be the first 11. Adler, Holtmann and Mwene are out.
Fortuna Dusseldorf had big back-to-back wins over Gladbach (3-1 at home) and Hertha (1-2 in Berlin), but they just could not cope with Bayern’s superiority last weekend. The goal they scored in their 1-4 defeat came in the 89th minute from the penalty spot, when things were already decided, as they were 0-3 down. They conceded again after that. They sit 10th in the table, far from the relegation spots, but not really with any hope of climbing high enough to claim a Europa League ticket. They are expected to start with Rensing, Zimmermann, Ayhan, Kaminski, Suttner, Bodzek, Lukebakio, Stöger, Fink, Raman and Kownacki. They have two guys out, Sobottka and Zimmer, while Contento, Drobny, Gießelmann and Lovren, all four, were considered doubtful the day before the game.

Mainz vs Fortuna Dusseldorf: Betting Tips
Mainz are considered favorites to win, but I would leave winners and losers aside in this match, and bet on goals instead; “both teams to score and over 2.5 goals” is at 1.87.
