Manchester City vs Celtic
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 06 December 2016
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Manchester City cannot do too much in this game but fall out of the play-off spots – although that is incredibly unlikely. Even if they lose against Celtic, they will need Gladbach to absolutely hammer Barcelona to fall out of second spot in their group which they look to have comfortably secured.
Manchester City will be relishing facing Celtic for no other reason than they would like to get revenge after their first encounter in this group. It was an incredible 3-3 draw in Scotland that had many scratching their heads, but now, with very little on the line, City will have a chance to get revenge as well as atone for a poor match against Chelsea in the Premier League. The Citizens have also found it really tough to get wins at home, and as such will want to win this one for the fans more than anything else.
For Celtic, their race is pretty much run, they can still get on equal points with Gladbach in third, but their goal difference is so poor that they would have to beat City by at least eight goals to jump into third place. Celtic however have been out of their depth all along in this group stages as their two points have only come from that ridiculous draw with City,as well as a draw with Gladbach. The only thing in Celtic’s favour is that they do have a bit of a mental edge over City because of that previous result, also, Celtic have been crowned the winners of their League.
Manchester City vs Celtic: Previous encounter
The 3-3 draw in Scotland was a fantastic game for the neutral observer as no one gave Celtic a chance against a Pep Guardiola City team, In that game Dembele opened the account for Celtic in the 3rd minute but then Fernandinho equalised soon after, the ebb and flow continued as Celtic then took the lead through again through a Stirling own goal, but he then scored in the other net to equalise again only for Celtic to steal the lead one more time and it finally ended with Nolito securing the draw in the 55th minute.
Manchester City vs Celtic: Prediction
City may be coming off a big loss against Celtic, and they may have a poor home record at the moment, but they also have a lot more class than Celtic in terms of individual players. Expect City to win comfortably here, probably 2-0.
Manchester City vs Celtic: Tips
Aguero is a goal machine, but for Celtic, their main man is Dembele, it would be a tasty bet to go for both of them to score.
