MOL Vidi vs BATE
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 20 September 2018
Kick-off: 18:55 CET
MOL Vidi played eight matches in the Champions League qualifiers and play-offs, lost only one game, but that was enough to “send” them to the Europa League. AEK Athens beat them 1-2 in Hungary, in the first leg of their play-off tie. The Hungarians drew 1-1 in Athens, actually came close to winning 1-2 at the end, but… that 1-1 was simply not good enough. A… weird piece of info surfaced just before this game; Serbian striker Danko Lazović, 35, one of their most important players, told his teammates in the dressing room that he was quitting football(!), effective immediately, not at the end of the season, not in December. Up until 48 hours before kick-off against BATE, the club had not verified the report, had not made any public comment, obviously trying to… sort things out with their player.
Just like MOL Vidi, BATE Borisov got eliminated in the Champions League play-offs, losing twice to PSV Eindhoven, 2-3 at home, and 3-0 in the Netherlands, in the return leg. Earlier, they had eliminated HJK and Qarabağ. BATE played in the Europa League group stage last season as well, but won only one game, at home, over FC Koln. Unlike MOL Vidi, who picked up just one point from two matches in their championship after getting eliminated by AEK, BATE earned all possible points, six, and, no surprise, are leading in Belarus’ championship, on 51 points from 20 matches, seven more than second-placed Vitebsk.

MOL Vidi vs BATE: Head to head Stats
MOL Vidi have hosted BATE once before, in 2015, as “Videoton”. That Champions League qualifying match ended in a 1-1 draw.
MOL Vidi vs BATE: Prediction
The hosts are considered slight favorites to win the game. Interestingly though, they have won just one of their five home games, in all competitions, since late July. BATE on the other hand, have won all but one as guests the last two months, that 3-0 defeat to PSV. All things considered, I’m risking with the visitors’ double chance.
MOL Vidi vs BATE: Betting Tips
BATE’s win in “draw no bet” is at 1.90, and their double chance at 1.55. My riskiest tip is “under 1.5”, at 2.62, all suiting my 0-0 or 0-1 hunch.
