Monaco vs Club Brugge
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 6 November 2018
Kick-off: 18:55 CET
Two weeks ago, Monaco were considered outsiders at Club Brugge, but I backed them to earn at least a point, and they did. It wasn’t the result they needed though, to continue dreaming of a top-2 finish. They are five points behind second-placed Atlético Madrid, and they still have to visit them. The way things are, their realistic target is to finish third, so as to play Europa League football in February. In two France Ligue 1 matches since then, all they managed was a point. They are on just seven from 12 matches in their championship, at the bottom of the table. They have conceded in 13 consecutive matches in all competitions. Last time they kept a clean sheet was in mid August(!).
Club Brugge had super few chances to finish in the top-2 to start with, and their one point from three matches is no real surprise, given whom they have faced in this group. They can still finish third though, as long as they earn at least a draw, preferably with goals, in Monaco. In case they finish level on points with Thierry Henry’s team, it’s the results in the two games among them that will count first. If this game ends in a goalless draw and these two finish level on points, it will be Monaco who will qualify for the Europa League, thanks to their away goal two weeks ago. In three matches in Belgium’s championship the last 15 days, Club Brugge earned five points. They are second, on 31 from 14 matches, three points behind leaders Genk, with whom they actually drew last Saturday, away, 1-1.

Monaco vs Club Brugge: Head to head Stats
Monaco have hosted Club Brugge once before, 30 years ago. They destroyed the Belgian side back then, 6-1(!).
Monaco vs Club Brugge: Prediction
Despite their pitiful form in their championship, I’m backing Monaco to win this game. The way things are, finishing third in their group is a way to… save the first half of 2018, and beating Club Brugge they would be making a massive step towards meeting that target.
Monaco vs Club Brugge: Betting Tips
Monaco’s win pays 2.10. Combined with “over 2.5 goals”, that goes up to 3.20. Club Brugge tend to score even when they lose.
