Munster vs Saracens
Competition: European Rugby Champions Cup
Date: 22 April 2017
Kick-off: 16:15 CET
The defending champions of both the English domestic league and the biggest European League have a real tough task on their hands as they have to travel to Ireland to take on one of the form rugby teams in the world, Munster.
Saracens have been similarly impressive as they were last year, racing to near the top of the English League this season, as well as pretty much sailing through the Champions Cup to get to this stage. Saracens have built an incredible culture in their team and have a game plan that balanced attack and defence almost perfectly. They are a tough team to beat as they are so well drilled and a well oiled machine, however, they are a little vulnerable away from home. Had this semi-final been played at the Allianz stadium, on their artificial pitch, Saracens would almost be a certainty to win. However, against Munster they will find a team full of passion and determination, and one that will be hard to grind down like they are used to doing.
Munster have rallied and grouped together around a sad tragedy that befell them before their first game of the Champions Cup where coach Anthony Foley died suddenly in Paris before Munster faced Racing Metro. It has seen the best come out of the side however as they have banded together and look to be playing for their beloved departed coach each and every game. The Munster men are near the top of their table in the Pro 12, they managed to sail through the group stages of the Champions Cup and are at home against the defending champions. No doubt this will be their biggest challenge this season as Saracens are one of the better teams in Europe and are not used to losing, but they are also a team that has to travel to the cauldron that will be Munster’s home ground.
