Nasaf Qarshi vs Al Wasl
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 20 February 2018
Kick-off: 14:00 CET
Last week, when Nasaf Qarshi visited Persepolis, I didn’t hide I had zero faith in them avoiding defeat, or conceding less than twice. “Persepolis and over 2.5 goals”, at 2.40, was my main tip, and it came good as Nasaf lost 3-0. They had a couple of chances to score (not big ones though), they stayed in the game until the 66th minute when Alipour made it 2-0 for Persepolis, but all in all Nasaf Qarshi looked poor, playing, in all fairness, against a more than decent rival. It’s still early in the group stage, but there are already two teams who have won, two who have lost, and this is the game between last week’s losers, meaning that if there is a loser in this match as well, he will be at the bottom of the group barrel, with a very tough mission to finish in the top-2.
When Al Wasl hosted Al Sadd, last week, I explained why I didn’t expect them to beat their visitors, I suggested Al Sadd’s double chance (1.50), their win in “draw no bet” (1.85), adding though that deep down draw felt like the most probable result. Al Wasl took the lead in the first half thanks to a beautiful Fabio Lima goal, but got… derailed in the last 10 minutes. First, they got equalised, but even then, it looked like they would start the group campaign with a point. Seconds before the 90-minute mark, defensive blunder, 1-2 for Al Sadd, with Al Wasl’s players and fans left wondering how they failed to get at least a draw from a game in which they were leading until the 80th minute. They bounced back on Friday, beating Al Nasr 1-0 in a UAE League Cup quarterfinal. They had drawn 2-2 at home in the first leg, so they progressed to the semis. It was a controversial goal/win, as they scored early in the second half, with an Al Nasr player down. The referee didn’t whistle, Al Wasl’s players didn’t kick the ball out, they played on, scored, infuriating the hosts.

This is the first game ever between these two.
Nasaf Qarshi vs Al Wasl: Prediction
Hosts Nasaf are a whole different case to visitors Nasaf, when at home the Uzbekistan side has to be taken very seriously, but still, I’m tempted by Al Wasl’s double chance, seeing it pay that well.
Nasaf Qarshi vs Al Wasl: Betting Tips
Al Wasl’s double chance pays 1.94, considerably better than Nasaf Qarshi’s win. It’s a risk, but one I consider worth taking, more worth it than betting on Nasaf to win. I feel the visitors have a better roster, and will find the way to leave Uzbekistan undefeated.
