Newell’s Old Boys vs Rosario Central
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 10 February 2019
Kick-off: 21:10 CET
For the first time this season, Newell’s Old Boys have gone undefeated in four consecutive matches, but right now, their fans couldn’t care less about that. It’s Newell’s vs Central, it’s the most important game of the season for the fans of both teams, especially those of Newell’s, as, last time the two met, in Sarandí, in a Copa Argentina knock-out match, a few months ago, Central eliminated Newell’s, and later on lifted the trophy, beating Gimnasia in the final. As is common in such cases, Newell’s fans organized a “banderazo”, a big gathering to cheer for the team right before a derby. Even Gerardo Martino, La Lepra’s former coach, new coach of Mexico’s national team, sent his best wishes to his beloved Newell’s from… his new country. The hosts sit 15th in the table, one point ahead of Central, but the visitors have one game in hand.
Edgardo Bauza, Central’s coach, talked about the referee in his Press conference on Friday, saying that Abal, the one who got picked to officiate this match, is not good enough for such a derby. El Patón shared his opinion that in such a match, a much better referee should be “sent”, not Abal. After that public statement, it will be very-very interesting to see how the referee will do… The visitors drew 0-0 with Aldosivi at home last weekend, yet another game in which they failed to score. They have sent the ball in just 12 times in 16 matches thus far in this Superliga edition, an incredibly poor number. Only bottom-of-the-table Argentinos Juniors have scored less than them.

Newell’s Old Boys vs Rosario Central: Head to head Stats
Two draws and three Central wins, not a single one for Newell’s, in the last five games between these two with Newell’s as hosts.
Newell’s Old Boys vs Rosario Central: Prediction
I trust Newell’s to satisfy their crowd winning the game, taking… small “revenge” for their Copa Argentina defeat a few months ago.
Newell’s Old Boys vs Rosario Central: Betting Tips
The hosts’ win is at 2.15. That’s my only tip, even though I’m tempted to add a clean sheet, seeing how poor Central have been offensively this season.
