Northampton Saints vs Leicester Tigers
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 09 September 2017
Kick off: 17:30 CET
Both of these sides will need to bounce back from their respective losses in the first round as the Tigers and the Saints suffered bad defeats in a season where they need to prove a point.
For the Saints it was a real humiliating loss against the powerhouse of English rugby as the Saracens absolutely tore them apart in the biggest win of the weekend. The Saints were porous in defence against a side that was happy to let the ball do the talking as the match ended 55-24. The Saints have gone from being the Champions of England not too long ago to slipping down the pecking order with last season being a particularly poor season. There was much hope for a better season this year, but things do not look good in the early exchanges – of course that can all change if they put a better show on at home against another struggler.
The Tigers were the only home side to lose a game in the first round and it was against a good Bath side that ground out a close win 27-23. The Tigers would have felt that despite Bath being a quality outfit, they should have won at home, and they should have put on a better show than they did as the visitors took their chances when they were on offer. Tigers now have to travel and that will already disadvantage them, nevermind the fact that they have to play a wounded Saints side that will want to strike back. However, it could work in their favour as the Saint may not be up for it as many thought this year.

In this famous fixture it is the Tigers who hold the cards as they have won seven of the last 10, and there has also been a draw meaning that the Saints have just the two wins in recent history. In fact, the Tigers have won the last five games in a row.
Northampton Saints vs Leicester Tigers: Prediction
The Saints have a lot to come back from, but they have the home ground advantage which looking at the first week is a big thing. However the Tigers were better in their game, and they have the historical edge, so it could be another defeat for Northampton. Either way it will be close.
