Norway vs Czech Republic
Competition: Europe World Cup Qualifying
Date: 10 June 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Norway have been disappointing throughout the qualifiers. Four defeats, one win, over San Marino, and even then, they ‘managed’ to concede a goal, and be at 1-1 until the 77th minute. They did lose by the slightest of margins in Azerbaijan (1-0) and the Czech Republic (2-1), but in Baku they were left behind in the 11th minute, so they spent the entire game behind, while in Prague they were 2-0 down two minutes into the second half, and they only got one goal back four minutes from time. My point here is, they look like they made it difficult for Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic to beat them, but a closer look actually shows that they didn’t put in much of a fight. At this point, even a draw would be great for them, so as to save some face in front of their own fans.
Super tricky game for the Czech Republic, one of those games that you do have things to win, but infinitely more things to lose. Norway have not managed to earn any points against the top four teams of the group. If the Czechs are their first… victim, it will put them in a seriously disadvantaged position, not to mention shutter their confidence. The Czech Republic may be third and just two points behind second-placed Northern Ireland, but things for them are much more difficult than what they look. They do have two games left at home, but one is against Germany, and the other one is versus San Marino. The really important games, this one, and then against Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan, they have them on the road, which means that by the end of the qualifiers they could be as low as fourth. This makes the game in Oslo even more important, not just for the points, but also psychologically, to feel they can get big results away from home. They will most definitely need it. A few days ago they lost 2-1 in Brussels, to Belgium, in a friendly game, looking competitive enough.
Norway vs Czech Republic: Head-to-head Stats
Norway have hosted the Czech Republic three times in the past, one win for each team, and a draw.
Norway vs Czech Republic: Prediction
Norway are considered slight favorites to win, but risking looking anti-Norway, personally, I’m almost ruling out a win of theirs. I would be really-really surprised if the Czechs lost. Actually, I do expect them to score that one goal that most probably will be enough to give them all three points.
Norway vs Czech Republic: Tips
‘Draw or Czech Republic’ is at 1.53. As previously mentioned, deep down I expect the guests to score first, most probably in the first half (that’s when Norway have conceded the most), and end up winning the game. A Czech Republic win is at 2.90, and Czech Republic-Czech Republic as halftime-full time pays 4.75.
