Nurnberg Ice Tigers vs Eisbaren Berlin
Competition: German DEL
Date: 11th November 2016
Kick-off: 19:30 CET
Only one place separates the Ice Tigers and Polar Bears going in to tonight’s game, while they are both level on 24 points.
The difference however comes that Nurnberg sit a place higher and have played two less games than their rivals from Berlin. A 6-2-2-4 record sees them just in the Top 6 automatic playoff places so far. A lack of consistency has stopped Nurnberg from really being any higher – their only real streak has been of two consecutive wins, a run they are currently also on after games before the break. They have only lost 3 of the last nine however.
Berlin were dumped out of the CHL in unceremonial fashion by Frolunda who were frankly more than a class above them. An aggregate 10-2 defeat to the Swedes over two legs means that the Eisbaren have lost four of their last five in all competitions; however, in their own league it’s three wins from eight as they have dropped dramatically out of the top three to #7 overall.
The Ice Tigers’ good league placing is largely down to road form in fact. On their own ice they have managed only three wins from seven games, and have just 10 points. They have however won their last two at home straight, possibly marking a turn in fortunes. That said, the Ice Tigers score an average of three a game and give up 2,4, so it’s usually pretty tight.
Berlin are about average for the league in road form, 10 points from 8 games with three regulation wins. Their problem is that they are out-scored on average, netting 2,9 goals a game but conceding 3,25. Again, usually involved in tight matches, it’s been slim margins for Berlin so far.

Nurnberg Ice Tigers vs Eisbaren Berlin: Prediction
Berlin have done some travelling this week up & back to Gothenburg, and played 60 minutes against the European champions so could lag in the final period. That plus their recent run puts Nurnberg as the favourites.
