Olimpia vs Cerro Porteno
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 4 November 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Things couldn’t be better for Olimpia right now; three weeks ago, they were second in the table, just for one weekend, the only one this year. Twenty days down the road, they have built a seven-point gap to second-placed Cerro Porteño. Plus, their goalkeeper, Alfredo Aguilar, who got substituted last weekend in the 68th minute (they beat Deportivo Capiatá 1-4), is ok, and will play. Furthermore, key players Sergio Otálvaro and Richard Ortiz are available, having missed the last game due to cards. Even William Mendieta is available, having trained properly these last days. Olimpia’s fans picked up all tickets in a couple of days, while Cerro’s supporters seemed… reluctant to buy theirs. At Defensores del Chaco, both teams are given half tickets, no matter who plays as host or guest.
Pathetic… Truly pathetic… As previously mentioned, three weeks ago, Cerro Porteño finally managed to climb first in the table. How did they… manage the situation? Losing at home to Libertad, losing to Sol de América, and… salvaging a draw in added time last weekend, at home, playing against practically already relegated 3 de Febrero. True, they were left with 10 men in the 59th minute, when Santiago Arzamendia acted like a… goalkeeper, saving a goal with his left hand, but even so, against a rival like 3 de Febrero, Cerro should have found a way to win the game. Diego Churín missed a penalty in the 81st minute, and when he did equalize deep into added time, he made a gesture as if apologizing to the fans for his earlier miss. One thing is for sure, he’s the last one to blame for Cerro’s pitiful results these last weeks. Arzamendia is out for two matches, because of his red card last week. Nelson Haedo Valdez trained properly these last days, but it should be Jorge Benítez starting up front, next to Churín.

Olimpia vs Cerro Porteno: Head to head Stats
Olimpia have four wins in a row over Cerro Porteño as hosts, even though it should be mentioned that all those games were played at neutral Defensores del Chaco.
Olimpia vs Cerro Porteno: Prediction
Olimpia have everything going for them in this match; psychology, form, fan support, everything. It’s a derby, anything can happen, but I feel they are mentally ready to knock Cerro out, beat them, practically celebrate winning the Clausura this weekend.
Olimpia vs Cerro Porteno: Betting Tips
Olimpia’s win pays 2.30 (with their double chance at 1.40). I also like the chances of “over 2.5 goals”, at 2.07. Combining that with Olimpia’s victory, you get to hope for an awesome 4.00.
