Olimpia vs Nacional Asuncion
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 10 June 2018
Kick-off: 23:15 CET
Olimpia “managed” to make themselves look like amateurs last weekend, dropping two points against Deportivo Capiatá at Defensores del Chaco, getting equalizing (2-2) by Depor in the 78th minute, despite the fact that Capiatá had been playing with 10 men since the 58th minute. Already-crowned champions Olimpia, playing practically at home, failed to protect the lead against a lowly opponent who was one man down. If the title hadn’t been decided, that would have been a major failure by Daniel Garnero’s men, but of course, you have to cut them some slack, keeping in mind that they had already secured the Apertura title, and several of those guys are now mostly worried about their future. These last days, it was made known that both Farid Díaz (key in their success in the Apertura) and Rodrigo Burgos won’t be continuing at the club. On the other hand, 25-year-old Colombian left-back Dairon Mosquera (at Pachuca these last months) was signed on Friday, a guy who’ll have some pretty big shoes (Farid Díaz’s) to fill.
Nacional failed to beat minnows Deportivo Santaní last weekend at home, getting stuck to a goalless draw. Santaní are a tough nut to break, but Nacional, with the players they have, they should have managed to send the ball in at least once. Coach Celso Ayala implied that his first 11 will be pretty much the same as last weekend, meaning Santiago Rojas, Carlos Bonet, Miguel Jacquet, Miguel Paniagua, Carlos Montiel, Derlis Alegre, Edgardo Orzusa, Derlis Orué, Sergio Fretes, Juan Manuel Salgueiro and Adam Bareiro. The last two are anything but sure to continue at the club. Bareiro is a much-promising young striker, with excellent characteristics. Salgueiro is 35, but still doing very well, looking for one last – maybe – contract before hanging his boots up.

Five wins for Olimpia and two draws in the last seven games between these two with Olimpia as hosts.
Olimpia vs Nacional Asuncion: Prediction
Olimpia are considered clear favorites to win the game, but as we saw last weekend, their focus levels now that they have secured the title, have dropped spectacularly. You simply can’t get equalized by a much weaker opponent when you’re playing with a numerical advantage. It makes you look… not serious. I prefer to bet on goals instead.
Olimpia vs Nacional Asuncion: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” pays 1.70. “Yes” on “both teams to score” is slightly smaller, 1.65. If I left goals aside, I would go for Nacional’s double chance, at 2.00.
