Olympiakos vs Apollon Smyrnis
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 29 October 2018
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Olympiakos drew with Betis at home on their Europa League debut, lost at AC Milan, but after beating Dudelange in Luxembourg a few days ago, they started, again, talking about reaching the EL final(!). Last weekend they lost 1-0 at OFI, wasting the first half, during which it’s rather safe to claim that… they didn’t even appear on the field. In the second one they were good, created chances, but missed them all, and left Crete empty-handed. They are fourth in the Super League table, on 13 points from seven matches, six behind co-leaders PAOK and Atromitos. As hosts, they have three wins and a defeat thus far in the championship. Their win over Dudelange on Thursday was their first in five matches in all competitions.
What Apollon Smyrnis were missing was have their president visit the squad before a training session, and accuse a certain player of trying to get sent-off. They no longer “miss” that, it happened earlier this week, when Uruguayan central midfielder Gonzalo González was clearly targeted by Apollon’s president. González came off the bench in the 78th minute last weekend, in Apollon’s 0-2 home defeat to AEK Athens, and it’s true that he committed some rough fouls. Generally, the president turned against the players, having run out of patience. Apollon are at the bottom of the table, still without a point after seven game weeks. Interestingly, the president made sure to leave the players a copy of what he had planned to tell them, in English, so that all foreigners know exactly what he talked about.

Olympiakos vs Apollon Smyrnis: Head to head Stats
Two Olympiakos wins and a draw in the three games between these two in Piraeus the last four years. Before that, they hadn’t played there since 2000.
Olympiakos vs Apollon Smyrnis: Prediction
Olympiakos’ win pays just 1.10(!), which, really, feels fair, given whom they are facing.
Olympiakos vs Apollon Smyrnis: Betting Tips
“Over 3.5 goals” is my main tip, at 2.25, expecting Olympiakos to take full advantage of the fact that they are hosting a team that has looked super weak thus far.
