Olympiakos vs Panionios
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 2 February 2019
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Olympiakos took perfect advantage of the fact that Larissa played with a super alternative lineup midweek, and… threw a party. They were 2-0 up by the 16th minute, 3-0 up by halftime, before Kostas Fortounis added the cherry on top in the 75th minute, with his second personal goal. That was Olympiakos’ fifth win in a row, Super League and Cup combined. They remain second in the table, eight points behind leaders PAOK, whom they are visiting next weekend. It’s worth mentioning that they have conceded just two goals in their last six Super League matches, taking into account their last ones in 2018 as well. The really eye-catching detail is that both those goals were scored by Jagos Vukovic, an Olympiakos player, both were own-goals(!).
A beautiful Fiorin Durmishaj goal in the 36th minute made all the difference between Panionios and Asteras Tripolis midweek, in Nea Smirni. That was Panionios’ first win in seven Super League matches, a super-needed one, as they had fallen in the lower half of the table. It was also their first clean sheet in seven Super League games. They remain in the lower half of the table, 9th, on 22 points, but they now have three teams above them within striking distance, on no more than two points. Both Olympiakos and Panionios have Cup matches coming up, on Wednesday. A big difference between the two is that Olympiakos are totally serious about winning that competition, while Panionios see success in the Cup as a very welcome bonus, not losing though their focus on their priority, the Super League.

Olympiakos vs Panionios: Head to head Stats
Three Olympiakos wins, one for Panionios, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Piraeus.
Olympiakos vs Panionios: Prediction
I wish I believed in Panionios’ mini miracle at Karaiskakis (their double chance pays 6.75!), but I don’t.
Olympiakos vs Panionios: Betting Tips
Given that practically all of the tips I like in this match pay less than 1.50, I would either leave this one aside, or risk with Panionios’ 1.5 handicap, at 2.85. I definitely expect them to lose, but at 2.85, I would take a gamble with them losing by no more than one goal.
