Orebro vs Djurgarden
Competition: Swedish Hockey League
Date: 17th November 2016
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
It may only be November, but this game could be dubbed a relegation battle as two sides from the bottom four in the SHL meet.
Orebro have slipped down some places since the teams returned from the international break, on a run of two straight losses and three defeats in four stretching back to last month. Just before the break the team ended a streak of three straight losses with a pair of wins, but were only creeping up the standings after a poor start which took four games before they won, and six before that win was for the full three points. A season record of 5-2-2-8 sees them with 21 points from 17 rounds, and while they are seven points clear of the relegation places an extension of the bad run could see them dragged back into it.
Djurgarden are just one place off last in the SHL, but some six points above basement side Leksands. The Stockholm side are only a point away from climbing out of the relegation play-off zone as the hunt down Rogle, with a recent run of two wins in three – including over Frolunda and Skelleftea – have helped them bridge that gap. They sit so low after an appalling run saw the side record only two wins in 13 matches at the start of the season, with only two of the losses resulting in a point gained. A season record of 4-0-2-10 gives Djurgarden 14 points from 16 games.
Had it not been for their poor home form, Orebro would actually be higher in the table as they’ve done better on the road their in their own rink. Only two regulation wins in eight attempts have them as one of the SHL’s three worst home teams, with just 9 points. They have however not lost at home in regulation since before the break, winning two and taking a one-point loss. The side scores an average of 2,6 goals a game at home, but lets in 3,3.
Djurgarden have tasted victory in just one of their seven road games to date. On a run of seven straight losses in all competitions, that win was back in September and hasn’t been bettered since. On the road Djurgarden concede an average of 3,6 goals a game, while scoring less than 2 themselves.

Orebro vs Djurgarden: Prediction
If Djurgarden are going to end their terrible away run, it would probably come against a team as bad at home as Orebro, so they might be worth the risk despite poor form.
