Ospreys vs Munster
Competition: Guinness Pro12
Date: 18 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:15 CET
Arguably the game of the weekend as the top two sides go head to head in an all important clash that comes when the teams are missing quite a few players to international duty. It will be a test of the Ospreys as they try and overtake Munster who are only a sniff ahead of them.
Munster have been a real force this season, they have introduced coach Rassie Erasmus, and it looks like he is the man pulling the strings especially after the unfortunate passing of Anthony Foley. Through the whole season they have only lost two game in the Pro 12 and they have also got themselves into the knockout stages of the Champions Cup. But this game will have a very different feel to it as a lot of key players are missing to the Irish cause, but there is still plenty of class to deal with an Ospreys side that will also be down on a few key Welsh stars.
Ospreys were always there and there about through the season, but they have made a real push to be right up there wit the high flying Munster side. Again, Ospreys have only lost a handful of games, just one more than Munster with three defeats, but where they have really shined in their four-try bonus points. In their 11 wins they have managed to score four tries in nine of them which is a massive achievement, especially adding in the extra bonus point in one of their losses. Ospreys will take a lot of pride out of taking the top of the table, should they win this game, but more than that, they will also take a healthy bit of momentum out of beating the seemingly indomitable Munster.
Ospreys vs Munster: Head-to-Head Stats
What makes this game even more intriguing is the fact that they are so well matched over the year on the Pro12. There have been 30 games in this fixture over the years, but in that time Ospreys can take a mental edge, but only just, as they have won 15 games while Munster have won 14 games and there have been one draw.
Ospreys vs Munster: Prediction
A tough one to call, but that does not mean it will end in a draw or anything silly like that. There should be some good points in the game as these two go head to head, but the winner could well come out of just being at home. The Ospreys can boast a 78% win ratio for their home games and added to that the Munster men are missing players like captain CJ Stander, and they may be on the back foot.
Ospreys vs Munster: Tips
There will be loads of points as these team score to win, so be on the game to have over 60 points in it, but for the margin of the win to be small.
