Palmeiras vs Santos
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 3 November 2018
Kick-off: 23:00 CET
Something over a month ago, Palmeiras got eliminated by Cruzeiro in the Copa do Brasil semifinals. On Wednesday, they got eliminated by Boca Juniors as well, in the Copa Libertadores semis. Second painful elimination for the Sao Paulo giants in just over a month, but the Série A is a very different story; their 1-1 draw with Flamengo at Maracana last weekend, kept Palmeiras four points ahead of their closest rivals, Fla. There are seven games left, a lot, anything can happen, but Palmeiras certainly look better equipped than any other team to go all the way. Center-forward Willian is out, and will be for about three weeks. It remains to be seen which regulars will sit out. Scolari told reporters he didn’t intend to “rest” anyone unless absolutely necessary, after running some physical tests on Friday, the day before the game.
If the season were over today, Santos wouldn’t be playing in the Copa Libertadores next year. They are 7th, level on points with 6th-placed Atlético Mineiro, and only the top-6 teams earn tickets, plus Cruzeiro, who won the Copa do Brasil. Santos are on 46 points. Realistically, the team they can leave behind them, is Atlético Mineiro. The Belo Horizonte side are not doing well lately, while Santos have been on fire. Last weekend they beat Fluminense 3-0 at home, their fourth win in their last five matches. The one game they didn’t win, was at Internacional, third in the table. On Wednesday, Cuca was given a scare when he saw Bruno Henrique in pain, but turned out the winger’s injury was not really serious. According to reports, Santos will start the game with Vanderlei, Victor Ferraz, Gustavo Henrique, Luiz Felipe, Dodô, Alison, Diego Pituca, Carlos Sánchez, Rodrygo, Gabigol, and Bruno Henrique (or Derlis González).

Palmeiras vs Santos: Head to head Stats
Just one win for Palmeiras, two for Santos, and two draws, in the last five games between these two with Palmeiras as hosts.
Palmeiras vs Santos: Prediction
Palmeiras played a super demanding game Wednesday night, less than 70 hours before kick-off against Santos. Plus, the visitors have been in awesome form lately. The hosts are considered favorites to win the way, but I have little doubt backing Santos to earn at least a draw.
Palmeiras vs Santos: Betting Tips
Santos’ double chance pays 2.05, considerably better than Palmeiras’ win. Actually, I would go that far as to bet on Santos’ win, but in “draw no bet”, paying 3.50(!).
