Palmeiras vs Santos
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 19 May 2019
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Palmeiras started the season being considered top favorites to win the title, to be more precise, to retain the title they won last season, and four game weeks down the road, they are still up there, seen as the biggest favorites to celebrate early December. Last weekend they beat Atlético Mineiro 0-2 in Belo Horizonte, with Bruno Henrique scoring twice, late in the first and early in the second half. Attacking midfielder Ricardo Goulart and striker Willian remain unavailable (both had to undergo surgery to deal with injury problems). Luiz Felipe Scolari is expected to have Weverton, Marcos Rocha, Luan, Gustavo Gómez, Diogo Barbosa, Felipe Melo, Bruno Henrique, Raphael Veiga, Zé Rafael, Dudu and Deyverson in the starting lineup. Palmeiras are one of the three teams on 10 points from four matches.
Just like Palmeiras, Santos are on 10 points, one of the three co-leaders and only undefeated teams left in the Serie A. Midweek they visited Atlético Mineiro, it was the first leg of their Copa do Brasil round of 16 tie, and drew 0-0, failing to break Atlético’s solid defence. As always, Jorge Sampaoli is expected to make changes to the starting lineup. The day before this game, Santos reporters expected the team to start with Vanderlei, Lucas Veríssimo, Felipe Aguilar, Gustavo Henrique, Victor Ferraz, Diego Pituca, Jean Lucas (or Carlos Sánchez), Jorge, Rodrygo, Eduardo Sasha (or Jean Mota) and Soteldo (or Derlis González). Several “or”, partly because Sampaoli is very… serious about hiding his intentions before every game, leaving even his own players unsure of what is about to happen.

Palmeiras vs Santos: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Palmeiras, two for Santos as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two with Palmeiras as hosts.
Palmeiras vs Santos: Prediction
Detail: the game is held at Pacaembu, which is very-very often used by Santos as well as “home”. Even so, I expect Palmeiras to win the game.
Palmeiras vs Santos: Betting Tips
Palmeiras’ win is at 1.75. It’s not… “wow”, but I would stay with that, avoiding combining it with number of goals, as this is a game I can see end anything from 1-0 to… 3-2.
