Panathinaikos vs AEK Athens
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 3 November 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Panathinaikos’ coach, Yorgos Donis, was criticized by many for trying to play attacking football at PAOK last weekend. They lost 2-0, losing the… battle in the center of the field, but Donis seems determined to try something similar in Athens’ derby this weekend. That defeat in Thessaloniki a week ago, was Panathinaikos’ first this season. Before that, they had dropped just two points in seven matches. These last days had some bad news for the Greens; second striker Omri Altman, who has been out for almost eight months now, due to a serious injury, was expected to return to action soon, but it won’t happen. He’ll have to wait until 2019, and even then, he’ll need to spend some time getting fit, after not having played for more than 10 whole months. Panathinaikos are 6th in the Super League, on 13 points from eight matches. They have earned 19, but started the season carrying a -6 from last year.
AEK Athens were impressive last weekend against Aris, especially in the second half, when they scored three of their four goals, in just 16 minutes. Midweek, they scored four more goals, playing against a team from a lower division, in the Greece Cup. Coach Marinos Ouzounidis chose to give game time to several youngsters who normally don’t start in the Super League (let alone in the Champions League), and all went great for him and the team, and the youngsters took perfect advantage of their rivals’ weaknesses and won 0-4. AEK are third in the Super League, on 16 points from eight matches. They have earned 19, but had three deducted for things some of their fans did in the derby against Olympiakos.

Panathinaikos vs AEK Athens: Head to head Stats
Two Panathinaikos wins and three draws in the last five games between these two with the Greens as hosts.
Panathinaikos vs AEK Athens: Prediction
AEK are considered relatively clear favorites to win, but I have to respect how Panathinaikos have looked since the start of the season. I’m backing them to earn at least a draw.
Panathinaikos vs AEK Athens: Betting Tips
Panathinaikos’ double chance is at 1.83, my main tip. I don’t expect more than two goals, but “under 2.5” pays way less than Panathinaikos’ double chance, so I’m staying with that as my main tip. Their win in “draw no bet” is at 2.62. Generally, I expect to see Panathinaikos more motivated than AEK, who have a massive Champions League game coming up.
