Panathinaikos vs Atromitos
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 15 April 2018
Kick-off: 16:15 CET
What a TV soap opera Panathinaikos’ season would make… If you’re following the Super League previews here, you are aware of how many (innumerable) off-the-pitch problems the club have faced since early this season, ever since their main shareholder shocked everyone… pulling the plug. These last two weeks that the Super League was on a break because of Greek-Orthodox Easter, Panathinaikos had three points deducted, for owing money to a former player. They could get the points back, but they need to pay the player serious money. Until when? That’s less clear. Even if a miracle happens and they manage to find a solution to this problem, there are… five more around the corner. Without exaggeration, Panathinaikos are on the verge of getting relegated, because of their financial problems. Even neutrals say “Panathinaikos are too big to get relegated”, but… the rules are the rules, even though, in Greece, it’s anything but unheard-of to… bypass the rules, finding all sorts of “gaps”, interpreting the rules in very… imaginative ways. As if everything else weren’t enough, the players went on strike earlier this week, sick and tired of being owed money for months and months now.
Atromitos’ 2-0 home defeat two weeks ago to PAOK pretty much ended their dream of finishing second, a position that gives a Champions League qualifiers ticket. They are fourth, four points behind Olympiakos and five from second-placed PAOK, meaning that their position in the final table shouldn’t be different to the one they occupy today. No matter what, Atromitos have been one of the pleasant surprises this season, a team that made new fans with the football they played, staying out of… off-the-field trouble. They remain a humble club, with rather few fans, but in the… crazy world that Greek football is, it’s nice to see clubs like Atromitos, leaving good impressions both on and off the field. They have a practically full squad, so their coach can pretty much choose the best 11 for this game.

Panathinaikos vs Atromitos: Head to head Stats
Four wins for Panathinaikos and a draw in the last five games between these two with the Greens as hosts. No game went over 2.5 goals, partly because Atromitos didn’t score a single goal in those five matches.
Panathinaikos vs Atromitos: Prediction
I doubt Atromitos will lose.
Panathinaikos vs Atromitos: Betting Tips
Atromitos double chance is at 1.45, low. Their win in “draw no bet” pays 1.85. Only one of Panathinaikos’ last nine home games went over 2.5 goals, and that was against lowly Kerkyra. “Under 2.5” alone pays little, 1.57, but feels very probable.
