Panionios vs Asteras Tripolis
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 24 February 2018
Kick-off: 16:15 CET
Playing without several key players, Panionios did better than what I expected last weekend, losing “only” 1-0 at Olympiakos. They conceded early in the second half, and that goal decided the match. Panionios’ coach admitted that his team didn’t deserve a point in Piraeus, adding though that some young players who were called to offer their serviced did an overall good job, something positive for Panionios to take from that defeat. Truth is, Panionios’ only “chance” in the entire game was a long-range shot, with Olympiakos’ goalkeeper pushing the ball over his horizontal bar. Other than that, Panionios were mostly… spectators, as Olympiakos did practically anything they wanted on the pitch (except score a lot). Some of the players they were missing last weekend are back, but still, they are not problem-free. Panionios are fifth in the table, that’s a spot that may give a Europa League ticket. They are also in the Cup semis, they are hosting PAOK on Wednesday in the first leg.
What a harsh result that 1-0 defeat for Asteras Tripolis last weekend. Someone could say that they lost the game in the first half, when they had the chances to score more than once. Somehow they couldn’t send the ball in, and in the second half they couldn’t stop Atromitos from taking control. Even so, the game in Tripoli was about to end goalless, Asteras were super close to earning a point, until the first minute of added time, when a Panionios defender scored an impossible goal after a corner kick. Asteras are 8th in the table, having earned just two points from their last five matches. On Thursday, the club organized a dinner for all members of the squad, as a way to… “improve the atmosphere”. Nikos Kaltsas and Matias Iglesias, two of the most important players of the team, had a big argument in training the day before. The matter is considered dealt with, but both guys are also injured and doubtful for this game.

Panionios vs Asteras Tripolis: Head to head Stats
Four wins for Panionios and a draw in the last five games between these two in Nea Smirni. Excluding a goalless draw, the rest of the matches went over 2.5 goals.
Panionios vs Asteras Tripolis: Prediction
Asteras have lost three of their last five Super League games, but in this one I trust them to earn at least a draw.
Panionios vs Asteras Tripolis: Betting Tips
Asteras’ double chance is at 1.75 betting odds, which I prefer to Panionios’ win at 1.95. I consider the game much trickier than others in this Super League game week, so I’m actually staying with this 1.75, too hesitant to suggest anything else.
