PAOK vs Panachaiki
Competition: Greece Cup
Date: 22 January 2019
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Two weeks ago, PAOK lost 2-1 at Panachaiki, in his first game in 2019. Aleksandar Prijovic was on his way out, tempted by Al Ittihad’s awesome offer, and the question was, “who is going to score Prijovic’s goals now?” The Serbian had been the team’s top scorer since the start of the season. In the next two games, PAOK scored six goals, three and three, having four different scorers. On Saturday, they made things look very easy against Panionios, won 3-0, and stayed eight points ahead of second-placed Olympiakos Piraeus, who, earlier that day, had won away from home. PAOK seem… destined to win their first championship title in 35 years. In 16 Super League games this season, they have dropped just two points, one draw, while in the Cup, Panachaiki became the first Greek team to beat them this season, the first Greek to beat them since March 2018, and only the second since November 2017. Be reminded, PAOK won the Cup last season and the year before that, and they are very-very serious about winning their first ever double, championship and Cup in the same season.
“Both teams to score”, at 3.50, was my only tip two weeks ago, when Panachaiki hosted PAOK, it came good, but truth be written, I couldn’t imagine the Patra side would beat PAOK. They did, taking perfect advantage of the Super League leaders’ possibly worst game of the season. Ever since then, they lost away from home and won as hosts in their two Football League (second division) matches. Despite having the advantage thanks to that 2-1 win at home, they’ll need to outdo themselves to leave Toumba with a ticket to the quarterfinals.

PAOK vs Panachaiki: Head to head Stats
PAOK haven’t hosted Panachaiki since 2002; that year, they beat them twice, 4-0 and 3-2. Just before that, in 2001, PAOK had beaten Panachaiki 5-1 at home.
PAOK vs Panachaiki: Prediction
I seriously doubt even Panachaiki fans would bet on their team avoiding defeat in Thessaloniki…
PAOK vs Panachaiki: Betting Tips
A simple PAOK victory pays too little, 1.13. My tip is PAOK’s -2.5 handicap, at 2.15, expecting them not just to qualify (a simple 1-0 would be enough for that), but to win by at least three goals.
