PAS Giannina vs AEL Larissa
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 16 March 2019
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Fabry Castro’s goal in the 86th minute salvaged PAS Giannina a draw last weekend at Lamia (1-1), a “fair” result, according to their coach, Giannis Petrakis. PAS sit 13th, which, if things in Greece go according to plan, means that at the end of the season Giannina should face a Football League (second division) side in play-offs, to see who’ll play in the Super League next year. I doubt anyone in Giannina expected the team to be that low that late into the season, they had the roster to fight for much bigger things, it wouldn’t be “too much” to claim they were hoping to be in the top six, and maybe fight for a Europa League ticket, but… sometimes, things go exactly the opposite to what you had planned. The cheapest tickets for this game cost 10 euros, in a PAS effort to attract to the stadium as many fans as possible.
AEL beat Levadiakos 3-0 at home last weekend, in a six-point again, as they are after the same target, avoid relegation. Serbian winger Miloš Deletić opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 71st minute, generally he has been great at Larissa all season, but soon after the game, Larissa’s president put him in the fridge, deciding that from now on he will be training with the second team. Why? Because at the end of the season he is moving to AEK, he has already agreed terms with them, and AEL are getting nothing out of it, because of the way the player’s new agent did things, “behind Larissa’s back”, as they claim.
