Patronato vs Velez Sarsfield
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 10 December 2018
Kick-off: 23:00 CET
If the season were over today, Patronato would be getting relegated. They are at the very bottom of the Superliga table, and what matters the most is that they are third-to-last in the “promedio” table. The last four of that table will get relegated at the end of the season. Last weekend, they lost 1-0 at Newell’s Old Boys, their second defeat in a row, both away from home. They have conceded 24 goals in 14 matches, more than any other Superliga team. Things look better if you isolate their home games; they have lost just one of their last four, and that was to strong Independiente, a narrow 1-2.
When the season started, Vélez Sarsfield looked in trouble in the “promedio” table, close to the relegation line. Fast forward to today, not only they have left the relegation zone far behind them, not only they have positioned themselves among the teams that would be earning a Copa Sudamericana ticket if the season were over today, but they’ve also earned the right to dream of earning a Copa Libertadores ticket (for 2020, not for 2019, because of how the Argentines have decided to have their calendar). Last weekend they beat Rosario Central’s reserves 2-0 at home, climbing up 6th in the table. It’s not just they get positive results in most of their games, it’s also that they play good football, they are one of those teams worth spending time to watch in Argentina.

Patronato vs Velez Sarsfield: Head to head Stats
Patronato have hosted Vélez just once before, two years ago; that game ended in a goalless draw.
Patronato vs Velez Sarsfield: Prediction
I really like this Vélez side, but Patronato have lost just one of their last four home games. I’m… succumbing to my reservations, and I’m leaving Vélez’s 1.95 aside.
Patronato vs Velez Sarsfield: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals”, at 2.40, is my main tip, tempted to go for it, seeing how many goals Patronato’s last home games have had. “Over 1.5” is at 1.50, for the ultra conservative ones among you.
