PSG vs Barcelona
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 14 February 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Barcelona are one of the most comfortable teams in this competition, and as things start to get serious in this the first knockout stage, the Spanish side will be leaning on their experience as they travel to a French side hell-bent on revenge.
PSG will have Barcelona in their sights, especially in a home game, as it was the Catalans that have knocked them out twice in the last four years. First it was in 2013 and then in 2015 that PSG were kicked out in the quarter finals at the expense of Barcelona. Even with revenge on their minds however, PSG will have to do more than just turn out because there is a reason that Barcelona are so dominant in this competition. PSG were second in their group behind Arsenal, by just two points, as those two battled all through the six group games for the honour of not facing Barcelona.
For the Catalans, they will thus have the mental advantage before they even arrive in Paris as they know they have smashed the dreams of PSG on a number of occasions. Add to that the team that they are, and the fact that they can really turn it on for the Champions League, and it is clear to see who the favourite for this game is. Barcelona topped their group comfortably, with Manchester City the only threat seeing as they did lose the one game against them, but they were totally dominant and even though they are not at their best in La Liga, they will still be up for this game.
PSG vs Barcelona: Group stage form
PSG, ending in second, picked up too many draws as they won three and drew three, but were undefeated, along with Arsenal who topped the group. They also scored a good haul of goals, 13 in total while conceding just more than half that with seven against.
For Barcelona, they lost to City in a bit of a strange turn around for the English side, but otherwise they dominated their group totally, scoring 20 goals and only conceding four for their 15 points.
PSG vs Barcelona: Prediction
While Barcelona have pretty much dominated PSG the last few encounters, they have had to get through their work over the two stages and at home in France, things can be tricky. Barcelona will want at least a draw to take the game to the Nou Camp where they will dominate totally. But still, Barcelona could well just win here and make it safe.
PSG vs Barcelona: Tips
Arguably the greatest strike force in the game is Messi, Suarez and Neymar with Messi in the best goal scoring form so bet on him to net at least one.
