Racing Club vs River Plate
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 10 August 2018
Kick-off: 00:30 CET
Racing Club had such a good group stage campaign that they had already qualified when they traveled to Belo Horizonte on the last day, to face Cruzeiro. They lost, that’s how they ended up second, level on points with the Brazilian side. They won all three games at home, looking impressive against Cruzeiro (4-2), and Vasco da Gama (4-0), good enough against Universidad de Chile (1-0), and before losing in Belo Horizonte they had drawn in Santiago and Rio de Janeiro. Their last official match was over two and a half months ago, that 2-1 defeat to Cruzeiro. Racing lost central defender Alejandro Donatti on Monday, he got injured, and is unavailable, a real blow to the Avellaneda side. Defensive midfielder Mauricio Martínez is one of the players who arrived at the club recently, he was training properly for 10 days, but on July 26 he got injured as well, and his case is much more serious than that of Donatti.
Unlike Racing, River Plate played two official games relatively recently, between the 22nd and the 28th of July. Both were Copa Argentina matches against weak teams, but at least they were official games. River finished first in their group, undefeated, above second-placed Flamengo, third-placed Santa Fe, and Emelec. They didn’t really impress anyone with their football, but they definitely got the results they needed to qualify. Interestingly, 19-year-old Exequiel Palacios is expected to start at midfield, instead of vastly experienced Enzo Pérez, member of Argentina’s squad in the recent World Cup finals. Franco Armani, Gonzalo Montiel, Lucas Martínez Quarta, Javier Pinola, Milton Casco, Leonardo Ponzio, Exequiel Palacios, Ignacio Fernández, Gonzalo Martínez, Lucas Pratto and Ignacio Scocco, these are the 11 tipped by Argentinian websites to start the game.

Racing Club vs River Plate: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Racing, two for River as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Avellaneda.
Racing Club vs River Plate: Prediction
Racing are considered slight favorites to win the game. Personally, I’m leaving winners and losers aside.
Racing Club vs River Plate: Betting Tips
“No” on “both teams to score” is at 1.70, my main tip. “Under 2.5” doesn’t pay more than 1.50, so I would risk with “under 1.5”, at 2.50. Deep down I expect a goalless draw, but if there is a goal, I seriously doubt another one (let alone more) will follow.
