Racing Metro vs Brive
Competition: French Top 14 Rugby
Date: 18 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Racing Metro are starting to climb their way back up the log after a really horror showing over the beggining bit of the season, but still, there are nowhere near where they should be, but a good win against Brive – at home – could make a world of difference.
Racing are in a position where they sit just alongside a big block of middled teams that are waiting to burst away from each other, hopefully in an upwards motion. Sitting in 8th, Racing are the defending champions and should be doing better than they are, but if they were to win, and win well against Brive, they could just up from 41 points to 46, which would put them equal on points with Montpellier, who are third. That is much more of where Racing should be aiming, but they need a run of wins – both home and away – to really push for higher honours.
Down below Racing, in 10th Brive join much more of the bottom echelon of teams having won and loss the same amount of game, eight each, as well as having a draw. Brive have been mediocre at best for the entirety of the season, relying on winning at home, like most teams do, but when they do come up against better teams they are prone to crumbling. Racing may not be the best team in form, but they are at home, and they play much better at home. Brive will have to be weary as it is far easier for them to fall down the log than to climb it at the moment.
Racing Metro vs Brive: Current form
Racing have still been holding onto their pattern of winning at home and losing away from home, but they recently managed a great 59-20 win – at home – against bottom of the log Bayonne.
Brive in the meantime have done similar to Racing, winning at home and losing away, but their performances have not been good, they have won by sall margins and had some pretty big results go against them.
Racing Metro vs Brive: Prediction
Simply based on the fact that Racing are at home, and Brive away, the result is almost a foregone conclusion as you expect Racing to be too good. They still have plenty of firepower, especially with some former All Blacks like Dan Carter and Joe Rockoko. It should be a simple task.
Racing Metro vs Brive: Tips
With many senior French players away, expect Dan Carter to step up and score the majority of Racing’s points.
