Rangers vs Villarreal
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 29 November 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Rangers missed a big chance to be at a much better position in the group today, by losing three weeks ago in Moscow, to Spartak, despite taking the lead three times(!). They were leading 2-3 until the 58th minute, but conceded two goals in a matter of… seconds, and failed to react effectively. Five points have them third in the table, level with Spartak, but with a disadvantage against them. Villarreal are leading on six points. The Glasgow side definitely bounced back after that defeat, winning both games at home by a total score of 10-1(!). They are second in Scotland’s championship, two points behind leaders Celtic. Steven Gerrard cannot count on winger Jamie Murphy, who is injured. Left-back Borna Barisic is doubtful. Rangers are expected to start the game with McGregor, Tavernier, Flanagan, Worrall, Goldson, Ejaria, Coulibaly, Middleton, Arfield, Candeias and Morelos. The last one needs to be careful; a yellow card will cost him his presence in their last group match, at Rapid Vienna, in two weeks.
Finally a win for Villarreal… They beat Betis at home last weekend, 2-1, their first victory in six matches. Three weeks ago they drew 0-0 with Rapid Vienna in Austria, a result good enough to keep them at the top of the group table, on six points. One bad thing that came out of last weekend’s game was that central midfielder Manu Trigueros got injured, had to get substituted, and won’t be involved in this game, most probably. Defensive midfielder Bruno Soriano is also out, injured, and another defensive midfielder, Javi Fuego, is doubtful. Villarreal are expected to start with Fernández, Miguelón, Bonera, Ruiz, Pedraza, Chukwueze, Fornals, Mori, Sansone, Bacca and Ekambi.

Rangers vs Villarreal: Head to head Stats
Rangers have hosted Villarreal once before, in 2006; that game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Rangers vs Villarreal: Prediction
Villarreal are considered favorites to win the game, but I’m backing the hosts to earn at least a draw.
Rangers vs Villarreal: Betting Tips
“Rangers or draw” is at 1.75, my main tip. Their win in “draw no bet” pays 2.50.
