Real Madrid vs Ajax
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 5 March 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Real Madrid’s win (1.90), the same combined with “over 1.5” (2.12), and also with “over 2.5 goals” (2.45), these were the three tips here before the Merengues visited Ajax for the first leg of this tie. Real Madrid suffered in parts of the game, someone could claim they didn’t deserve to leave Amsterdam victorious, but… they did. Karim Benzema and Marcos Asensio gave them the lead twice in the second half, Asensio’s goal came in the 87th minute, and that’s how they managed to beat Ajax in the Netherlands, half-securing their spot in the quarterfinals. Sure, they lost to Girona at home(!), and the last seven days they lost twice to Barcelona at Santiago Bernabéu, first in the Copa del Rey and last weekend in La Liga, 0-3 and 0-1 respectively, that definitely hurt, a lot, but… we know Real Madrid turn into a very different team in the Champions League.
Three weeks ago I explained why I didn’t trust Ajax to beat Real Madrid at home, betting against them. Truth is, watching the Dutch side was fun, there is a lot of talent there, they definitely gave Real Madrid a scare, but they still lost, 1-2. In three games since then, they have looked… on fire; five goals past Breda at home, five more at Den Haag, and a week ago they even beat Feyenoord in a knock-out semifinal, 0-3, qualifying for the Cup final in their country. Ajax have been looking great, but… you know how this sentence ends, “Real Madrid are nothing like any team Ajax face in their domestic competition during the course of any season”.

Real Madrid vs Ajax: Prediction
If after two defeats at home to Barcelona in a matter of a few days, Real Madrid’s players don’t find in them the… well-meant “ego” to go out there and not just qualify past Ajax but beat them, then…
Real Madrid vs Ajax: Betting Tips
The hosts don’t need to win, but even so, I expect them to. A simple Real Madrid victory is at 1.65, going up to 2.05 if combined with “over 2.5 goals”.
