Real Madrid vs Valencia
Competition: Turkish Airlines Euroleague
Date: 19 December 2017
Time : 20:45 CET
Real Madrid are coming off a strong win in the Spanish Derby against Barcelona last week, whom they overcame by 87:75 at home. It was a slightly balanced first half between the two sides (40:38), but Real Madrid really took off in the third quarter. They scored twice as many points as their opponents, and went on to record a really strong win. Luka Doncic showed glimpses of his NBA potential once again with 16 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds and a steal. Reyes scored 14 with 8 boards, while Thompkins, Fernandez, Carroll and Campazzo all scored double digits, in what was a great team effort. They have now won four of their last five matches in all competitions. Real Madrid are now sitting at the 8th spot of the Euroleague (W6 L6), with an average of 83.83 points per match, against 79.41 conceded.
Valencia have not been at all good in the Euroleague this season, and are also coming off a tough loss at home against Crvena Zvezda. The two teams were fighting a really close battle for the first three quarters, but Valencia were severly outscored in the final quarter (19:30), and eventually suffered a bad defeat. San Emeterio scored a team-high 17 points, Pleiss chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Abalde, Green and Van Rossom had somewhat good performances. Valencia have been in pathetic form lately, having won just two of their last ten matches in all competitions. They are now sitting at the 14th spot of the Euroleague (W3 L9), scoring 76.3 points per match, while conceding 77.75 in the process.

Real Madrid vs Valencia: Head to Head Stats
The two teams haven’t met in the Euroleague since 2011, where they exchanged home wins. The last match between the two was on October 15th for their domestic league, where Real Madrid won by 82:86 in Valencia. However, Valencia had won each of the previous three matches between the two sides. Even so, Real Madrid have won five of the last six home matches against Valencia.
Real Madrid vs Valencia: Prediction
Valencia have lost each of their last five road matches in all competitions, and they should not be a problem for Real Madrid here. They are at a boiling point though, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if they pulled an upset here.
Real Madrid vs Valencia: Betting Tips
Valencia might have lost each of their last five on the road, but they have lost by 2, 3, 1, and 5 points in their last four. That means that despite their losses, they remain competitive. I will reluctantly pick the +8.5 points for Valencia here (@1.80), knowing well enough that they are not a better team than Real Madrid.
