Real Madrid vs Viktoria Plzen
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 23 October 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Twenty four hours before kick-off, it felt like this is Julen Lopetegui’s last chance to save his job at Real Madrid. Actually, it felt his time is up, and many were left surprised to see Florentino Pérez not take… drastic measures before this Champions League game. Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Levante at home last weekend, had lost 1-0 at Alavés right before the international break, defeat at CSKA Moscow right before that, and actually, before Marcelo scored against Levante, they had played four games without sending the ball in, not even once(!). Three points from two matches in their CL group have them second in the table, things are not… critical there, at least not yet. They need to react, they need to show character, and they are rather lucky to be hosting Viktoria Plzen right now, instead of a much stronger team.
Viktoria Plzen got embarrassed in Rome three weeks ago, losing 5-0 to Roma, not really looking like a Champions League group stage team. They finished the game on seven attempts, but only one on target, just one corner won, and less than 40% ball possession. All in all, they were – by far – second best on the field for 90 minutes, and… yes, the final result was heavy, but given the difference between the two teams on the field, the score wasn’t really an… exaggeration. They are on one point from two matches in the group, having drawn with CSKA Moscow at home on their debut. In Czechia’s championship they are sitting second in the table, on 28 points from 12 matches, two points behind leaders Slavia Prague.

Real Madrid vs Viktoria Plzen: Head to head Stats
No history between these two.
Real Madrid vs Viktoria Plzen: Prediction
The hosts should win, despite their pitiful record in their last five matches (no win, and just one goal scored).
Real Madrid vs Viktoria Plzen: Betting Tips
I believe in Real Madrid, I see them not just win the game, but… make an emphatic comeback, pushed by the fact that Viktoria Plzen are very vulnerable defensively (they have already conceded seven goals in two group matches). “Over 3.5 goals” is at 1.65, and “over 4.5” pays 2.40.
