Red Bull Salzburg vs Olimpija Ljubljana
Date: 1st December 2016
Kick-off: 19:15 CET
Second placed Salzburg host basement Ljubljana in round 24 of the EBEL, with the Red Bulls looking to close the gap on leaders Vienna and Ljubljana hoping to continue to better recent form.
Salzburg go into this game six points behind the Capitals with this game in hand, but have been dropping points all over the place lately. A loss in Bolzano earlier this week came after four games unbeaten – however all of those games won were for only two-points, meaning they’ve not won in regulation since the 11 November when the league resumed. All seven of the Bulls’ last games have been decided by a single goal as well, and all bar one of them was 4-3! Overall, the Red Bulls have a record of 12-5-3-4 so far.
Olimpija Ljubljana have long been the suffering team in the EBEL, and were almost removed from the league over the summer. Again they find themselves propping up the other 11 teams, but have been on a resurgence of late. Three wins in theur last five, including back to back over the weekend, have put them now only six points behind nearest rivals Dornbirn – although the Slovenians were blanked 5-0 two nights ago at home to Vienna. Their season record stands at 2-5-1-17 thus far.
Salzburg are second best for home form in the entire league, having notched seven regulation wins in 12 games to give them 28 points from those matches. They won their last two for two-points, and have not lost in regulation on their own ice in the league for almost two months. On average, the Red Bulls score 3,5 goals a game in their own rink, while giving up only 2.
Ljubljana are the worst away side in the league with one regulation win, OT win, OT loss – and 8 defeats overall. They have only six points from those 11 trips, and have lost four of the last five. On average, the Dragons hit just over 2 goals a game away, but concede 4,2 every match.

In hockey this is about as close to a certainty as you will get, bar a miracle form Ljubljana. If you’re going on an accumulator, this would be one of the bankers.
