Red Star Belgrade vs CSKA Moscow
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 13 February 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Having Red Star and Partizan play at home on the same day was out of the question, not just because they call the same city (Belgrade) home, but mostly because their stadiums are a short walk from each other. One of the two had to play on another day, this is why Red Star are hosting CSKA Moscow two days earlier than initially scheduled. Red Star finished second in their group back in December, following Arsenal to the last 32 of the competition. They beat FC Koln twice, earned three draws, including a goalless one at Emirates, against Arsenal, and lost just one match, at home, to the Gunners (Giroud scored late to give the London side all three points that night). They haven’t played an official match since December 13, when they drew 1-1 at Partizan. Super important draw, as it kept Partizan nine whole points behind them in the Serbia Superliga table. Red Star are leading, looking big favourites to win the championship title.
Just like their Serbian opponents, CSKA Moscow haven’t played an official match in over two months. They lost 3-0 to Spartak Moscow on December 10, right after which the Russian championship went on a break. They are fifth, 10 whole points behind leaders Lokomotiv Moscow, but only two behind second-placed Zenit. CSKA won no less than three matches in their Champions League group, but not even nine points proved enough to help them qualify for the last 16 of that competition. Their last Europa League appearance was a… painful one. It was back in August 2012. They beat AIK 1-0 in Sweden in the first leg, but somehow “managed” to lose 2-0 at home, failing to make it to the group stage. Big news for CSKA is that Ahmed Musa is back, on loan from Leicester City, until the end of the season. He moved to the Premier League from CSKA a year and a half ago, but failed to really make an impact there. In the recent friendly games that CSKA played, he was a hit, and according to reports he is considered match fit, and will be included in the starting lineup in Belgrade.

Red Star Belgrade vs CSKA Moscow: Head to head Stats
Red Star have faced five Russian teams in the past, but not CSKA.
Red Star Belgrade vs CSKA Moscow: Prediction
I’m trying to see a favourite here, but I can’t. I feel CSKA have a better roster, but Red Star are playing at home, and they have proven how competitive they are, even against Arsenal. All things considered, I feel draw is the most probable result.
Red Star Belgrade vs CSKA Moscow: Betting Tips
Draw is at 3.20 betting odds, and is my top choice in this match. “Under 2.5 goals” pays 1.53, I consider it very probable, but I find 1.53 low. “Under 1.5” pays 2.62, and, just like “draw”, suits my 0-0 hunch.
