River Plate vs Belgrano
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 19 August 2018
Kick-off: 01:00 CET
“River Plate to keep a clean sheet” (2.37) and “under 2.5 goals” (1.60) were my two tips last weekend when River visited Huracán, and both came good, as the game ended in a goalless draw. Marcelo Gallardo’s team missed awesome chances to score, including a penalty in the first half, but truth is, they were a bit lucky not to concede, as Huracán had their moments as well. What is happening at River with their right-backs is… creepy. On Tuesday, Gonzalo Montiel got injured while training. His… natural replacement is Camilo Mayada. Guess what happened to the Uruguayan right-back on Wednesday… Again while training. It looks like Jorge Moreira will be given the chance to start, even though the Paraguayan hasn’t played in an official match in almost a year(!), and recently was close to leaving River, moving to Sao Paulo.
That 0-0 in the game between Belgrano and San Martín San Juan couldn’t be a more deceiving result. Both teams had enough chances to have produced a… 2-2 draw, easily, but both missed all their fantastic chances to score. Belgrano finished 13th last season, losing their last two games, which cost them a spot in the top-10. They have 10 new players (compared to the team that finished last season), and a new coach as well, Lucas Bernardi. Experienced Argentinian-Mexican center-back Miguel Martínez (ex-Querétaro) is one of those who arrived, along with Uruguayan Hernán Menosse, another very experienced center-back, who last played for Once Caldas, in Colombia.

I expect River to win, but… not run wild.
River Plate vs Belgrano: Betting Tips
A simple River victory is paying just 1.44, but combined with a clean sheet it goes up to 2.10. “River and under 2.5 goals” is at 3.00, all suiting my 1-0 or 2-0 hunch.
