River Plate vs Palestino
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 14 March 2019
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
If you turn the TV on (or go online) to watch this game, don’t be surprised when you see the empty stands. River Plate are… paying for what some of their fans did last year, before the Copa Libertadores final that… was never played at Monumental, the one that got postponed after the attack on Boca’s bus. Marcelo Gallardo’s players have to host Palestino without fans, and it remains to be seen how much they will get affected by that. Last week, a fantastic Cristian Ferreira free-kick deep into added time salvaged River a point at Alianza Lima (1-1). On Sunday, Ferreira “spoke” again, scoring the only goal of the match at Atlético Tucumán, a massive victory for River, given that it was away from home over their main rival in the fight for a top four spot in Argentina’s championship. The Buenos Aires giants made sure to sign a new contract with the youngster, and add a… crazy release clause.
Palestino’s hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores received a big blow right on their debut, last week, at home, losing 0-1 to Internacional. They did a good job defending, they were at 0-0 until the 83rd minute, but that’s when Inter scored, leaving the Chileans empty-handed. On Saturday, they hosted Universidad Concepción, another Libertadores group stage participant, went 0-1 down in the 27th minute, but Roberto Gutiérrez had one of the best days in his career scoring three goals(!), leading Palestino to a resounding 4-1 triumph. They now are on six points from four matches in Chile’s championship.

River Plate vs Palestino: Prediction
It’s hard to imagine River Plate not winning this game, no matter if they’ll play in front of empty stands, in a very “cold” atmosphere.
River Plate vs Palestino: Betting Tips
Given that a simple River win pays just over 1.25, I would try “River and under 3.5 goals”, at 1.93. Their win combined with “under 2.5 goals” is at 2.25.
