River Plate vs Racing Club
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 30 August 2018
Kick-off: 00:30 CET
Incredible… Defensive midfielder Bruno Zuculini played for River Plate in the Copa Libertadores back in March and April, but it was only last week, after their first leg against Racing Club in the round of 16, in which he played again, that CONMEBOL… realized the 25-year-old still “owed” a punishment from previous years. Racing Club asked for the first leg to be accredited to them as a 3-0 victory, but CONMEBOL chose… not to do anything, possibly realizing that a big part of the fault is theirs, for not having a really up-to-date online system. Zuculini case-aside, River have four goalless draws in a row, that one against Racing in the first leg, and then three in the Superliga. Coach Marcelo Gallardo has a new record of undefeated games in a row, but… as an Argentinian sportswriter put it, “without goals, there is no paradise” (he played with words, as there is a book called “without breasts, there is no paradise”). On Sunday, River drew 0-0 at home with Argentinos Juniors. Did they deserve to win? Given the incredible chances they missed, yes. But you need to send the ball in. If not…
Actually, Zuculini’s case is much more complex than ONE game being accredited to a team as a 3-0 victory, in this case, Racing Club. As previously mentioned, Zuculini was ineligible back in March and April as well, when he did play in group stage matches. There was a rumor that the whole competition could get suspended(!!!), until there is a decision on Zuculini, but CONMEBOL were quick to react, clearing out that postponing this week’s games is simply not an option. Racing have started the Argentina Superliga way-way-way better than River, drawing 2-2 at Atlético Tucumán, then beating Vélez Sarsfield 2-0 at home, and, last weekend, Patronato, 0-3. They have scored seven goals in three matches. A single one at Monumental, in this game, will make things very-very tough for River, who will then need at least two to win the game and qualify.

River Plate vs Racing Club: Head to head Stats
Just one win for River, two for Racing, and two draws, in the last five games between these two with River as hosts.
River Plate vs Racing Club: Prediction
A team that simply… cannot score (River), is hosting a team that does score (Racing), a lot, and they need to beat them, not even a draw (with goals) will be enough. I’m backing Racing to score once, and either win, or qualify with a 1-1 draw.
River Plate vs Racing Club: Betting Tips
Racing’s double chance is at 2.10, my main tip. Their win in “draw no bet” is at 4.00(!!).
