Roma vs Atletico Madrid
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 12th September 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Roma have been trying to win the Serie A title from Juventus for years now, and losing to Inter 3-1 at home just before the international break was a blow to them, mostly psychologically. Inter are seen as an up and coming power in the Serie A after a series of poor seasons, and to beat Roma that easily in Rome was a message to everyone that they mean business, while Roma were left… wondering if they will be a real title contender this season. Their game against Sampdoria last weekend was postponed, so Roma haven’t played since September 1, when they hosted Brazilian side Chapecoense in a friendly game.
Good news for Atletico Madrid is that Diego Simeone signed a new deal that ties him up to the Rojiblancos until 2020. Bad news, or… “not good” news is that they have already dropped four points in just three games in La Liga, against Girona and Valencia (both away from home). The fact that the club were banned from signing new players this summer has definitely affected things, but even with last season’s roster Atletico are perfectly capable of doing great things. Plus, in January they will be allowed again to bring in new players, so as long as they stay alive in all competitions, they’ll be able to… step on it in the second half of the season.

Roma vs Atletico Madrid: Head to head Stats
Roma have hosted Atletico just once before, almost 20 years ago, and they lost 1-2.
Roma vs Atletico Madrid: Prediction
I trust Atletico to avoid defeat, but I doubt very much they will win this game.
Roma vs Atletico Madrid: Betting Tips
Draw pays 3.20 betting odds, and it feels like the most probable result to me. Draw and under 2.5 total goals scored pays even better, and suits my 1-1 hunch.
