Russia vs Egypt
Competition: 2018 World Cup finals
Date: 19 June 2018
Kick-off: 20:00 CET
Russia played a… perfect game against Saudi Arabia, scoring five goals, conceding none, with their goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev, looking like a… spectator almost throughout the 90 minutes. Central midfielder Alan Dzagoev got injured and had to get substituted in the 24th minute. Ironically, his replacement, Denis Cheryshev, scored twice(!), with his second goal being an absolute stunner. All in all, everything worked for Russia against Saudi Arabia, it felt… too easy, they went practically unchallenged. Someone could claim though that this 5-0 was… “too much”, given that the hosts didn’t really miss any big chances, the ball went in every time they visited Saudi Arabia’s box looking threatening. Against Egypt, having the same… success percentage in their finishing feels almost impossible, so they’ll need to create more, and keep an eye on the back, as Egypt, especially with Mohamed Salah, are nothing like Saudi Arabia. As for Dzagoev, the group stage is over for him. He may play again in these finals, but only if Russia qualify for the round of 16.
The biggest news at Egypt’s camp have to do with Mo Salah. He should start against Russia, having missed the game versus Uruguay. Their coach, Héctor Cúper, said that he thought Salah would be ready for the opener, but the last 24 hours before their game against Uruguay, the medical staff were left with doubts regarding the Liverpool star’s condition, and they decided to protect him. Uruguay lost 1-0, conceding in the dying minutes of the match. Obviously, losing like that, hurts, but if they want to be 100% honest to themselves, they were lucky to have stayed at 0-0 until the 89th minute, Uruguay deserved to have scored earlier.

Russia vs Egypt: Prediction
I’m thrilled to see Russia’s win at 2.15, because I’m definitely backing Egypt to earn at least a draw. I’m not buying Russia’s 5-0 triumph over Saudi Arabia, their opponents are, based on how they played in their opener, the worst team in Russia these days.
Russia vs Egypt: Betting Tips
