San Martin San Juan vs Estudiantes
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 5 February 2019
Kick-off: 01:10 CET
San Martín San Juan were extremely lucky to earn that point at Banfield 10 days ago, but Boca Juniors were in no mood to give away anything midweek, when they visited them. San Martín conceded twice late in the first half, again early in the second one, and ended up losing 0-4, fair and square. Actually, given how the match went, that 0-4 could have been even heavier. They were left on 15 points, sitting 23rd in the “promedio” table, right-right above the relegation line. The gap between them and the two teams right below them in the table is so small, that a single result can make a significant difference.
Estudiantes took the lead early last weekend, hosting Vélez Sarsfield, but they never really… owned the pitch, they were not really better than their rivals, let alone “dominant”, even while leading in the score. Seconds before halftime, they got equalized, and early in the second half they conceded again. Did they deserve batter than lose 1-2? Given how they played before going 1-2 down, and mostly after that (they failed to create a single chance to equalize), I’d say “no”. They sit 16th in the table, on 18 points, and they need to improve, or else the start of next season will find them at a particularly unfavorable position in the “promedio” table, close to the relegation line.

If I absolutely had to choose something to bet on, I would go for Estudiantes’ win in “draw no bet” (1.90), or their double chance combined with “under 2.5 goals” (2.05).
