Santos vs Cruzeiro
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 27 May 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Having lost back-to-back games in the Copa do Brasil (they still qualified) and the Série A (at Sao Paulo, last weekend), Santos had the chance to bounce back midweek, when they hosted Real Garcilaso in the Copa Libertadores. They drew 0-0, disappointing, but still finishing first in their group. In the championship, they are 15th(!), on six points, but have a game in hand, versus Vasco da Gama. Right winger Bruno Henrique got injured over a month ago, in the game against Bahia, but is finally ready to return, good news for Santos. Central midfielder Léo Cittadini is also back, having recovered from his own latest injury. According to reports, Vanderlei, Daniel Guedes, Lucas Veríssimo, David Braz, Dodô, Diego Pituca (or Yuri), Jean Mota (or Léo Cittadini), Rodrygo, Gabigol, Eduardo Sasha and Bruno Henrique, will be in the starting lineup.
Cruzeiro played like… Cruzeiro midweek, when they hosted Racing Club in the Copa Libertadores, beat them 2-1, “caught” them on 11 points, and finished first in the group, thanks to their better goal difference. Last weekend they lost 1-0 to city rivals Atlético Mineiro, their only negative result in their last seven matches. They’ve won five of those, with some of those victories being real triumphs. They are on seven points from six matches in the Série A, sitting 13th in the table. According to reports, coach Mano Menezes will start the game with Fábio, Edilson (or Romero), Dedé, Léo, Egídio, Henrique, Lucas Silva, Robinho, Thiago Neves, Sobis, Sassá. Important clarification: center-back Dedé has been included in Brazil’s 35-player initial list for the World Cup finals. Because of that, he can’t play for Cruzeiro these days. The club though sent a request to the Brazilian Football Confederation, asking for a special permission to field him against Santos. When these lines were written, Dedé and Cruzeiro were still waiting for news from the CBF. The player trained on his own on Friday, not with the rest of the group (so as not to break any rule), and, bottom line, his presence against Santos remained a question mark.

Santos vs Cruzeiro: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Santos, two for Cruzeiro, and a draw, in the last five games between these two with Santos as hosts.
Santos vs Cruzeiro: Prediction
I didn’t like Santos on Thursday, and I didn’t like them last weekend either. They’ve won just two of their last seven matches, and both were at home, against weak sides, Luverdense and Paraná. I like – very much – Cruzeiro’s chances of leaving Pacaembu (that’s where the game is held, in Sao Paulo, not in nearby Santos) undefeated.
Santos vs Cruzeiro: Betting Tips
Cruzeiro’s win in “draw no bet” pays 2.10. Their double chance is at 1.55.
