Santos vs Internacional
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 11 June 2018
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Santos drew 1-1 with Corinthians on Wednesday, a game which could have gone either way. Both teams had chances to score more than once, with Gabriel Barbosa missing two fantastic ones for Santos. Especially the first one, in the first half, could make the top-5 of a “missed chances” video at the end of the season. These last days, Santos and Real Madrid came very close to agreeing a deal on youngster Rodrygo. He and Flamengo’s Vinicius Junior (plus, maybe, Pedrinho, of Corinthians), are considered the best teenagers in Brazil at the moment. According to reports, Real Madrid, who have already signed Vinicius Jr, are willing to let Rodrygo stay at Santos until the end of the Série A season. The hosts are on just 10 points from nine matches, low in the table, but with a game in hand (against Vasco da Gama). At home, they have three wins and one defeat in the Série A, having scored 10(!) goals in the three games they won.
Internacional lost two of their first four games in the Série A, but both were away from home, at Palmeiras and Flamengo, two of the three biggest favorites to win the title. Ever since then, they have stayed undefeated, beating Chapecoense, Corinthians and Vitória, and drawing (without goals) with Gremio, Sport Recife and Sao Paulo. Only Cruzeiro have conceded less goals than them in the championship, but despite their good numbers, they are “only” 8th in the table, good enough for a newly-promoted, rather average if you’re not just “any” newly-promoted, but Internacional, one of the biggest clubs in Brazil and the whole of South America. Bad news for Inter is that Zeca, their right-back who played in their last six games (the ones they stayed undefeated), got injured, will miss the game versus Santos, will miss the match against Vasco as well, on Wednesday.

Santos vs Internacional: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Santos, two for Inter as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two with Santos as hosts.
Santos vs Internacional: Prediction
Super interesting game, between a team that has done very well at home in most games this season (Santos), and a team that has stayed undefeated in their last six matches, including clashes against Corinthians, Gremio, and Sao Paulo. All things considered, I’m backing Inter to leave Vila Belmiro undefeated.
Santos vs Internacional: Betting Tips
Inter’s double chance pays 1.66, better than “under 2.5 goals” (1.57), which feels equally probable to me. Santos have scored a lot at home, but Inter seem to have the… know-how to neutralize opponents who usually score freely at home. For something paying much better, I would risk with draw alone, at 3.20.
