Sao Paulo vs Flamengo
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 4 November 2018
Kick-off: 20:00 CET
Finally a win for Sao Paulo last weekend, their first in seven matches. Mathematically, they can still win the championship title, but striker Diego Souza looked… very realistic talking to reporters, saying that Sao Paulo’s real target the way things have come, is to finish in a position that will earn them a Copa Libertadores ticket for nest season. They are fourth, with good chances of “jumping” directly into the group stage, avoiding the always risky Libertadores qualifiers in February. Sao Paulo lowered the prices of the tickets for this match, and big news for their fans is that they will be able, for the first time, to catch a Metro line to reach the stadium. Morumbi was… notorious for being hard to reach using public transportation, but now there is a station within reasonable walking distance (about 20 minutes).
Last week’s 1-1 at home against Palmeiras left Flamengo with a bittersweet taste. Yes, they failed to close the gap on leaders Palmeiras, they stayed four points behind them, but on the other hand, they were losing 0-1 since the 50th minute, and needed a… rare Marlos Moreno goal late in the game to salvage a point that at least didn’t let the gap between the two grow even bigger. Talking to reporters these last days, players admitted that… things at the dressing room could be better. There are several… dissatisfied guys, not playing enough, not playing in the position they would like to be playing, this and that, plus, veteran goalkeeper Diego Alves had a strong argument with his coach in front of everyone. He has been left aside for some weeks now, and it seems almost impossible to see him wear Flamengo’s jersey again in a game.

Sao Paulo vs Flamengo: Head to head Stats
Three Sao Paulo wins and two draws in the last five games between these two at Morumbi.
Sao Paulo vs Flamengo: Prediction
Sao Paulo haven’t won at home in almost two months(!). Flamengo have back-to-back victories on the road, at Corinthians and Paraná, 0-3 and 0-4 respectively. I’m taking a… leap of faith, backing Fla to win the game, not buying Sao Paulo’s “back to winning ways” narrative after their narrow 0-1 at Vitória last weekend.
Sao Paulo vs Flamengo: Betting Tips
Flamengo’s win in “draw no bet” is at 1.83, with their double chance at 1.48.
