Saracens vs Sale Sharks
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 25 February 2017
Kick-off: 15:45 CET
It would be a little bit early to say that the Saracens are in crisis mode, but another loss, and a loss to a team like Sale, would mean that things have really collapsed with many of their stars away on English duty in the Six Nations.
In their last two games, both of them away to be far, the defending champions have fallen to opponents that are far down the table compared to them First it was the Worcester Warriors, who are just second from bottom on the log, where they lost 28-18, all the points against them coming from penalties. Then they fell against Gloucester who have really struggled to see off games in their season, managing too many close losses, this time it was a 31-23 loss. For a team like the Saracens, who are deep in a race for the title with a host of other teams, these are bad results, and they are results that have seen them stay in second at least, but Exeter in third are equal on points with them and Bath are only two points back.
Sale on the other hand are coming off two fantastic results, but this time for the Sharks both of those results were at home as the beat the Wasps as well as Newcastle. Against the Falcons it was a tight one as they claimed the win by just two points, 26-24. But it was the next result, against the Wasps who are top of the log, that was the most impressive. Sale beating the attack minded Wasps with a 34-28 scoreline thanks to a hat-trick from Denny Solomona. Now, they have another one of the top teams to face, but things are a little different as they are away from home, but they won’t feel this game is beyond them as they know that Saracens are wounded and without a lot of very good players.
Saracens vs Sale Sharks: Head-to-Head Stats
Saracens are a top team in the Premiership, and wholeSale are a pretty permanent fixture, having won the whole thing once, they have still struggled against Saracens through their 39 games. In those encounters Sale have won 11 while Sarries have won a massive 27 and drawn the one.
Saracens vs Sale Sharks: Prediction
The form guide and the expectation says that Sale go on and take this game, but in all reality, Saracens will not take a third loss in a row, especially at home. The Saracens are a good team, even without their England stars, they will want to make a big impact against a Sale side that is still much lower down the log.
Saracens vs Sale Sharks: Tips
This could be where Saracens come back hard, and take all the wind out of Sale’s sails. Expect the coach to have had his words and tries to flow. Saracens to win by 25-plus.
