Scarlets vs Connacht
Competition: Guinness Pro14
Date: 29 September 2017
Kick off: 20:35 CET
Both of these teams are recent champions of the Celtic competition, but the most recent defending champs, the Scarlets, are having a much better time than Connacht who have to travel for this game.
For the Scarlets, they were almost seen as dark horse winners last year as they came in third in the regular season but played some great knock out right to dominate the entire competition and blow the opposition away in the final. They have agains started well with just the one loss against them in what was a hard fought game against Ulster. Other than that close seven point loss Scarlets have ripped teams apart, scoring loads of tries with their silky backline. However, the teams they have beaten have not been of the highest calibre. They beat the Kings at home in their opening game by a massive 47 points, then they took down Zebre on the road by 31 points before a 20 point win at home to Edinburgh most recently.
Connacht were the champions in the 2016 season when they shocked the Pro12 league to get to the final, and never mind the winning of it. They were well coached in that season by Jack Lam, but much like the football story of Leicester, it was a one off and as such they have dropped away significantly, even last year. This year they have won just one game, and lost three, and even their home fortress has not been enough to seek out tough wins. They lost their first game of the competition, which was at home, to the Glasgow Warriors, but it was a close one as they came out six points under. Then they beat the Kings easily by 22 points before a13 point loss against the Dragons on the road and a really tight two points loss to Cardiff most recently in Galway.

Scarlets vs Connacht: Head to Head Stats
Historically Connacht have never fared well against the strong Welsh outfit. In the 10 games in recent history, Connacht can only hold onto two wins, both of which came at home, while Scarlets have won the last eight and the most recent game saw them win by 22 points.
Scarlets vs Connacht: Prediction
Scarlets have a lot of expectation on their shoulders after their win of the tournament last year, and as such they have had to up their game. At home they have been good, and against weaker opposition they have been ruthless. They will see Connacht on the road as an easy game and will tear them apart.
