Schalke vs Bayern Munich
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 24 August 2019
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Schalke looked solid defensively last weekend, at Gladbach, kept a clean sheet, but their new coach, David Wagner, was the first to acknowledge that offensively they could and should have done much-much better. Schalke created super few scoring chances, lacking ideas when having the ball themselves. Nübel, Kenny, Stambouli, Nastasic, Oczipka, Caligiuri, McKennie, Mascarell, Raman, Harit and Burgstaller, these should start for the Gelsenkirchen side. Bentaleb and Carls are out, while Kabak, Matondo, Sane and Skrzybski were considered doubtful the day before the game.
Bayern Munich already dropped their first two points of the season, drawing 2-2 at home with Hertha Berlin. They looked in control after taking the lead in the 24th minute, but back-to-back Hertha goals in the 36th and 38th minute left the Bavarians… wondering what had just happened. Robert Lewandowski scored his second goal in the 60th minute from the penalty spot, but… nothing more; Bayern failed to score that third goal they needed. Things do look good though, for several reasons; a few days ago, they finalized the signing of Philippe Coutinho, on loan, from Barcelona. Ivan Perisic, another newly-arrived player, is eligible to play (unlike last weekend). Plus, Lucas Hernandez has fully recovered from an injury, and even Javi Martínez trained properly these last days, and should be given game time. Niko Kovac is expected to have Neuer, Kimmich, Süle, Hernandez, Alaba, Martinez, Thiago, Gnabry, Coutinho, Coman and Lewandowski in the starting lineup. Goretzka was considered doubtful the day before the game.

Schalke vs Bayern Munich: Head to head Stats
Bayern have four wins in a row in Gelsenkirchen. Before that, Schalke had salvaged a 1-1 draw.
Schalke vs Bayern Munich: Prediction
Bayern have an awesome record in Gelsenkirchen these last years, four wins in a row, which I expect them to make five, despite how solid Schalke looked defensively last weekend at Gladbach.
Schalke vs Bayern Munich: Betting Tips
Given that a simple Bayern win pays just 1.40, I would risk combining it with “under 4.5 goals”, at 1.80. “Bayern and under 3.5 goals” pays 2.30.
