Slavia Prague vs Astana
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 7 December 2017
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
Despite having just played their worst game in the group (actually, to be exact, their only bad game in the group), losing 2-0 at home to Villarreal, I backed Slavia Prague to look like… Slavia Prague (they have been very good this season, even in games they didn’t win) when they visited Maccabi Tel Aviv two weeks ago. Their win, my only tip, was at 2.20, it came good, as they won 2-0 in Israel, even keeping a clean sheet, which I mentioned back then that it felt very probable. Slavia are on eight points, one more than Astana, meaning that to qualify to the last 32 of the competition they need a simple draw. Last weekend, in their last championship match before Czechia’s long winter break, they beat Baník Ostrava 2-1 t home, finishing the first half of the season sitting second in the table, 14 points behind unbelievable Viktoria Plzen (15 wins and a draw in 16 matches!!!).
First things first; Astana haven’t played since that last Europa League group stage game against Villarreal, two weeks ago, which they lost 3-2, at home. The season in Kazakhstan had ended almost three weeks earlier (they won the championship title), meaning that they have played just one real game in over a month now. To be in the last 32 of the Europa League in February, they need to beat Slavia, not even a draw will be enough, as they are one point behind them. When they hosted Slavia, they… miraculously salvaged a point, drawing 1-1, a game in which the visitors were by far the better team on the pitch, squandering a good deal of great chances to score more than once.

Slavia Prague vs Astana: Head to head Stats
The game earlier this season was the first ever between these two.
Slavia Prague vs Astana: Prediction
Astana were extremely lucky not to lose to Slavia at home, earlier in the group stage. Will they look that improved? Can they do so, despite the fact that they have played just one real game in over a month now? I seriously-seriously doubt that.
Slavia Prague vs Astana: Betting Tips
I do expect Slavia to win the game, despite not needing to, but I prefer to leave their 1.75 aside, and bet on “over 2.5 combined goals”, at 2.10, which I consider very probable, given that both teams love to attack, and, Astana are obliged to take risks and win the game, to finish second.
