Sol de America vs Cerro Porteno
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 28 April 2018
Kick-off: 01:45 CET
Nothing worked for Sol de América last weekend at Deportivo Santaní. Absolutely nothing. They were the ones missing chances to score, until Santaní took the lead in the 60th minute. After that, Sol risked a lot, missed more chances, but paid the price for leaving gaps at the back. Final score, 2-0, just their second defeat in over two months. All in all, they played good attacking football, as they do almost always, but defensively they left a lot to be desired. As if the negative result weren’t enough, Sol lost Ernesto “Pinti” Álvarez as well, one of their best strikers. He had to get substituted in the 25th minute, and his injury will keep him out for about two weeks. They hope to have him available on May 10, in their game against Independiente Medellín, in Colombia (Copa Sudamericana).
Cerro Porteño are visiting Gremio on Tuesday, a big Copa Libertadores game, but according to reports, Luis Zubeldía, Cerro’s coach, will include his best possible 11 in the starting lineup in this game versus Sol. More specifically, Antony Silva, Raúl Cáceres, Marcos Cáceres, Juan Escobar, Santiago Arzamendia, Jorge Rojas, Rodrigo Rojas, Marcelo Palau, Kevin Fernández, Hernán Novick and Diego Churín are expected to start the game. Cerro are way behind Olimpia in the table, catching them seems almost impossible, but they want to continue with the streak of positive results (and generally good football). Last weekend they beat 3 de Febrero 3-1 at home, their fifth victory in their last six Apertura matches. They had kept six clean sheets in a row, but Juan Escobar made a big mistake late in the first half, gifting 3 de Febrero a temporary equalizer.

Sol de America vs Cerro Porteno: Head to head Stats
Cerro haven’t beaten Sol as visitors since 2015 (2-3). Ever since then, Sol have celebrated two victories (1-0 and 3-2), and two games ended in a draw, including a 2-2.
Sol de America vs Cerro Porteno: Prediction
Important detail! The game is held in Capiatá, close to Asunción, not in Villa Elisa, Sol’s proper home. So, it’s not really an away game for Cerro. It’s hardly one at a neutral venue for them, as most-most of the fans in the stands will be theirs. Even so, I’m taking the risk to back Sol to earn a draw.
Sol de America vs Cerro Porteno: Betting Tips
Sol’s double chance pays 2.10, which I prefer to Cerro’s win at 1.67. Draw, at 3.50, feels much more probable than a Sol win, but even 2.10 is not bad, I reckon.
