Sol de America vs Independiente CG
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 10 August 2018
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Sol de América started the Clausura on three draws in as many games, and last weekend things turned even worse, losing 2-0 at Cerro Porteño, conceding twice in a matter of a few minutes in the second half. If that weren’t enough, they lost two players as well; central midfielder Ignacio Miño got sent-off in the 66th minute, just before Cerro’s first goal. He is unavailable in this match against Independiente, because of that red card. Even worse, center-back Arnaldo Recalde was given a five-match(!!) suspension for his red card (hard foul on Raúl Cáceres) in the 74th minute (in between Cerro’s goals), and the… cockfight with Diego Churín, Cerro’s striker, that followed, before he left the pitch. Gerardo Ortiz, Andrés Duarte (his debut, against his former club), Iván Villalba, Franco Lazzaroni, Gustavo Velázquez, José Acosta, Richard Franco, Mingo Salcedo, Martín Giménez, César Villagra and Ernesto Álvarez, these should be the first 11. Do keep in mind, Sol have a trip to Uruguay coming up. Copa Sudamericana, return leg against Nacional, with the game in Asunción, the first leg, having ended in a goalless draw.
Independiente de Campo Grande’s double chance (2.00) and their win in “draw no bet” (3.40) were my two tips last weekend when they hosted Libertad, and they did win, 1-0. Before that, they had two draws and a defeat in the Clausura, and were desperate to pick up all three points. On Tuesday they received some bad news; the Paraguayan FA decided that they don’t really have a case against Cerro Porteño, claiming that Alfio Oviedo could play against Inde, on the first day of the Clausura (Cerro won 1-0), despite having accumulated five yellow cards in the Apertura, the first half of the season. “Yellow cards from the Apertura don’t count in the Clausura”, an FA official said, making it sound super simple, clear, crystal clear actually. The… ridiculous of the thing is that it took the FA weeks and weeks to “decide” on something that at the end, they made sound like the most obvious thing in the world. Then again, in Paraguay practically everything takes… a lifetime to get done, even the simplest of things, so… no surprise.

Sol de America vs Independiente CG: Head to head Stats
One win each, and a draw, in the three games between these two with Sol as hosts the last year and a half. Before that, Sol hadn’t hosted Inde since 2012.
Sol de America vs Independiente CG: Prediction
Sol are considered favorites to win the game, but I’m backing the visitors to earn at least a draw.

Inde’s double chance at 1.83 is my main tip. Their win in “draw no bet” is at 2.75.
