Sol de America vs Libertad
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 24 August 2018
Kick-off: 23:00 CET
It has been a week now, and I’m still in disbelief. Sol de América took the lead in the 10th minute at Guaraní, had already had a shot on the post, missed an incredible chance right after their goal, generally were much better in the first half, but went to the dressing room at halftime drawing 1-1. In the second half, again, they were the ones who had the biggest chances, but… somehow, they lost 2-1, conceding in Guaraní’s only chance, if you can call “chance” a shot outside the box, in the middle of a… crowd of defenders. “Both teams to score” (1.95) and “over 2.5 goals” (2.10), were two of my three tips, adding Sol’s double chance (1.80) as well, and, as previously mentioned, I still cannot believe they lost at Dos Bocas last weekend, the way they lost. Martín Giménez, their center-forward who scored their goal at Guaraní, has to sit out, because he has already received five yellow cards in the Clausura, in six matches. “Ridiculous” feels like a… compliment, given the magnitude of his… carelessness.
As expected and predicted here, Libertad beat Nacional last weekend, but… not without suffering. The only goal of the match came in added time, product of Antonio Bareiro’s football IQ. He saw Nacional’s goalkeeper coming out, and he headed the ball over him, having two Nacional defenders practically stuck on him. It was a game of few real chances, but at the end of the day, Libertad picked up all three points, their second win (and clean sheet) in a row. Coach Eduardo Villalba is expected to start the game with Rodrigo Muñoz, Salustiano Candia, Luis Cardozo, Paulo Da Silva, Néstor Giménez, Matías Espinoza, Egidio Arévalo Ríos, Cristian Riveros, Juan Manuel Salgueiro, Iván Franco and Óscar Cardozo. Franco is expected to get replaced early by Antonio Bareiro. Teams in Paraguay are obliged to have at least one Under-19 player in their starting lineup, but there is no rule obliging them to keep them on the field for a minimum period of time. Keep in mind, Libertad are hosting Boca Juniors on Thursday. They lost the first leg of their Copa Libertadores last-16 tie 2-0, in Buenos Aires.

Two wins for Sol, two for Libertad as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Villa Elisa.

Libertad are considered favorites to win the game, but I’m backing the hosts to earn at least a draw.
Sol de America vs Libertad: Betting Tips
Sol’s double chance is at 1.61. My main tip is “both teams to score”, at 1.72, going up to 2.20 if combined with “over 2.5 goals”.
