Sol de America vs Nacional Asuncion
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 1 September 2018
Kick-off: 22:00 CET
Fernando Ortiz is no longer Sol de América’s coach. He resigned after their 2-0 home defeat last weekend, their fourth failure in their last five matches. The Villa Elisa club were quick to appoint Éver Hugo Almeida, who has actually worked there before, 18 whole years ago. Almeida said he doesn’t intend to make drastic changes to the lineup, preferring to… take things easily. One player he has to leave out is defender Federico Acuña, who has to serve a one-game ban, after getting sent-off in the game against Libertad. As previously mentioned, Sol have lost four of their last five games, scoring just one goal in those four defeats. They are on just six points from seven matches in the Clausura.
Nacional’s win was my only tip when they hosted Sportivo Luqueño last weekend, it was at 2.00, and it came good, as the Asunción side won 3-1. It was exactly what they needed, after getting eliminated by Botafogo in the Copa Sudamericana, and losing at Libertad as well. Right-back Juan Franco got injured in the game versus Luqueño, had to have an operation on his hand, and is expected to stay sidelined for a month. Midweek, Nacional faced a lowly opponent in the Copa Paraguay, and needed penalties to qualify, after drawing 1-1 in the 90 minutes. Actually, it was a late Adam Bareiro goal that saved them, pushing the tie to penalties. Nacional are on nine points from seven matches in the Clausura.

“Both teams to score”, at 1.76, is my main tip. It pays better combined with “over 2.5 goals”.
